About the roleOur engineers are all about ensuring that our clients’ electrical systems meet these objectives. But it’s not just about sitting behind a computer – these roles mean getting out on site, meeting with clients, collecting data, getting hands-on with equipment, as well as testing and commissioning. No two days are ever the same, with some of your responsibilities including:
- Undertake electrical engineering investigations, designs and calculations; prepare engineering documentation; apply sound engineering practices to achieve the objectives of quality, schedule and budgeted man-hours, whilst requiring minimal technical supervision.
- Carry out site visits to liaise with clients, gather data, inspect construction or manufacturing progress or perform commissioning tasks.
- Undertake the role of Project Leader for small and medium-sized projects, taking responsibility for meeting budgeted man-hours, project cost budgets and project schedules.
- Maintain thorough project records for each project, both paper and electronic, in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of detailed proposals, fee estimates and quotations that fully meet client expectations, as well as minimise risk to the company.
- Develop technical skills while attending selected training courses and/or completing post-graduate studies.
- Supervise junior engineers assigned to projects and guide their engineering processes and assumptions.
- Identification of Environmental, Health & Safety hazards when commencing any project tasks or activities.
- Actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) systems as required and understand the concepts of Welcon’s EH&S systems.

Candidate requirementsTo be considered for this role, we ask that applicants possess:
- Degree qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- 7+ years relevant experience in Australia
- Current RPEQ registration.
- Excellent language and communication skills, especially written.
- Permanent residency status in Australia.
- Relevant design/analysis experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on building long-term relationships with clients.
- A strong desire to learn and take responsibility for your career.
