About the Role
This is a pivotal role within the College, ensuring the facilities are maintained to the highest standard and that the campus operates safely, smoothly and efficiently each day. Working closely with contractors and internal stakeholders, you will oversee the day-to-day maintenance of the site, coordinate planned and reactive works, ensure compliance with relevant legislation, and support the delivery of minor capital projects.
This role is responsible for the day-to-day management and upkeep of all physical assets, building systems, and service environments. This role reports to the Business Manager.
This role will also oversee WHS and compliance across the campus, manage contractor and supplier relationships, coordinate commercial letting periods during semester breaks, and contribute to security, ICT liaison, and strategic capital planning
Key Responsibilities
• Manage routine and preventative maintenance of all buildings, grounds, plant, and equipment
• Coordinate room readiness and transitions between student occupancy and commercial letting periods
• Oversee kitchen and dining facility upkeep in collaboration with the Catering Manager
• Ensure conference and event spaces are configured and maintained to a high standard
• Manage contractor and supplier relationships, including procurement, supervision, and compliance
• Lead WHS compliance, fire safety, and statutory obligations across the College
• Manage the security systems including CCTV, alarms, keys, and access control
• Assist the Principal with capital works projects and budget administration
• Respond to after-hours facilities emergencies as required
Skills and Experience
• Demonstrated experience in facilities management, building maintenance, or a related field - ideally in a residential, hospitality, or educational setting
• Knowledge of building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety)
• Proven experience managing contractors, suppliers, and compliance obligations
• Sound understanding of WHS legislation and building compliance requirements
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities calmly and effectively
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills - comfortable engaging with students, staff, guests, and contractors alike
• Proficiency with maintenance management or work-order systems and Microsoft Office
• A trade qualification or tertiary qualification in Facilities Management, Business, or a related field is desirable
• Current driver’s licence required; National Police Check and Working with Children Check required prior to commencement
