Junior Payroll & Accounts Payable Administrator

About the Role
A Melbourne-based organisation is seeking a Junior Payroll & Accounts Payable Administrator to support the finance function in payroll processing and accounts payable activities.
This role is ideal for a junior finance professional looking to develop practical experience in Australian payroll compliance and financial administration within a structured business environment.
The successful candidate will work closely with senior finance staff and receive guidance while developing technical capability.
Key Responsibilities Payroll Support

• Assist with payroll processing in accordance with Australian employment legislation
• Review and verify timesheets, leave records and payroll data
• Support calculation of wages, allowances and superannuation
• Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data accuracy
• Assist in preparing payroll reports
• Respond to basic payroll queries under supervision

Accounts Payable Support

• Process and enter supplier invoices accurately
• Match invoices with purchase orders and supporting documentation
• Assist with supplier statement reconciliations
• Support preparation of payment runs
• Maintain accurate financial records and filing systems
• Assist with month-end reconciliation processes

Skills & Experience

• Qualification or current studies in Accounting, Finance or related field
• Previous experience in payroll, accounts payable or finance administration (desirable but not essential)
• Basic understanding of Australian payroll compliance (advantageous)
• Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
• Strong organisational skills and ability to follow procedures
• Professional communication skills
