ABOUT POSITION:

• We’re looking for an Assistant Accountant Intern.

ABOUT YOU:
You must:

• be studying a relevant degree qualification or a recent graduate.
• have excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
• have the necessary technical and soft skills to perform the job.
• be committed to a career in your field of study.
• be able to work at least 3 days per week.

  
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform daily bookkeeping tasks, including data entry, bank reconciliations, and journal entries
• Process accounts payable and receivable, and follow up on outstanding invoices
• Maintain general ledger and prepare trial balances
• Reconcile bank, credit card, and petty cash accounts regularly
• Assist in the preparation of BAS, payroll tax, superannuation, and other statutory requirements
• Prepare and maintain accurate financial reports and documentation
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes
• Liaise with external accountants, tax agents, and auditors as required
• Ensure compliance with ATO and accounting standards
• Use accounting software such as Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, or similar systems.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting (1–3 years preferred)
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MYOB, Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Good communication and interpersonal abilities
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
• Knowledge of Australian taxation and compliance regulations (preferred)

The host company is located in Melbourne.
