We're seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join a large Federal Government agency in Canberra. This role will play a key part in the deployment, configuration, and management of critical ICT infrastructure supporting a secure and high-performing environment.

You’ll work closely with internal teams and external vendors to design, implement, and optimise infrastructure solutions across physical, virtual, and cloud environments. Key Responsibilities

• Deploy, configure, and manage infrastructure components across physical, virtual, and cloud platforms.
• Provide technical direction and advice to vendors and internal teams.
• Design and configure infrastructure to support key business applications.
• Deliver technical leadership and contribute to solution design.
• Maintain clear and detailed technical documentation, diagrams, and procedures.
• Support knowledge transfer to permanent staff and ensure compliance with agency standards.
• Work effectively in a small, high-performing team.

Essential Skills and Experience

• Proven experience designing, configuring, and supporting Microsoft Windows-based ICT infrastructure services.
• Strong understanding of Active Directory, ADFS, and related Windows Server roles.
• Experience managing and troubleshooting Linux environments (Ubuntu / RHEL).
• Scripting skills using PowerShell or similar.
• Hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and SQL Server (optimisation, upgrades, consolidation).
• Familiarity with Dell technologies, including Networker and Isilon for storage and backup.
• Demonstrated experience working within Federal Government environments, adhering to strict security and change management processes.

Highly Desirable

• Expertise in managing Ubuntu or Red Hat systems (using Satellite).
• Experience in infrastructure automation using Ansible or similar tools.
• Exposure to containerisation and orchestration technologies.
• Experience with security management tools such as WSUS, SCCM, Nessus, Nmap, SELinux, and firewall configuration.
