We are seeking a Senior Farm Hand to join a progressive mixed farming operation located outside of Chinchilla, Queensland.
This is a full-time, long-term position suited to someone who enjoys variety, takes pride in their work, and can operate confidently within a small team environment.
About the Role
This position involves working across both dryland and pivot irrigation country, supporting cropping operations from paddock preparation through to spraying and harvest support.
Hours: Monday to Friday | 7:00am – 5:00pm (approx.)
During peak periods, hours will vary, and occasional weekend work may be required, so flexibility is essential.
Employment Type: Full-time with a probation period
Pay Rate: To be discussed
Pay Cycle: Fortnightly
The Farm
- Dryland and pivot irrigation operation
- Cropping includes cereals, corn and forage sorghum
Machinery & Equipment You will be operating and working around a John Deere fleet including:
- John Deere 9400T
- John Deere 8370R
- John Deere 8R 410
- John Deere 8600 Forage Harvester
- John Deere R4060 Sprayer
- A broad range of implements
Kenworth trucks are also used on farm, and a truck licence would be a bonus.
Spraying & Chemical Handling - You will be required to mix chemical rates unsupervised
- Training will be provided as required
- A strong safety mindset is essential
Mechanical / Workshop General servicing and upkeep is part of the role, including:
- Routine maintenance and checks
- Basic troubleshooting and minor repairs
- Keeping machinery in good working order
What We’re Looking For To be successful, you will have:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a similar role (essential)
- Driver’s licence (essential)
- Truck licence (highly regarded)
- Basic mechanical skills and confidence with troubleshooting
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- A commitment to safety and best practice farming
- Basic knowledge of GPS systems such as John Deere GreenStar
- A positive attitude, willingness to pitch in, and ability to work independently
- Reliable, honest, hardworking, and passionate about working on the land
