Our client is a well-established agricultural contracting business operating in tough, fast-moving conditions where plans change, pressure is constant and results matter.
This is a hard job. It is hot, physically and mentally demanding, and it will test you. It is also rewarding for the right person. This role is not for most people. It is suited to the 5% who can handle responsibility, pressure and people, and still turn up every day and get the job done properly.
They are looking for someone to step into a senior, hands-on operations role within the business. This is a demanding position that requires grit, clear thinking, strong people skills and organisation. You will be dealing with people, personalities and problems daily. Communication needs to be simple, clear and consistent. This is a team effort, and nothing works without it.
This is not a desk job, but it is also not just a hands-on role. You need to be comfortable in the paddock leading crews, and then sorting the paperwork that keeps jobs running properly.
The Role
You will be responsible for keeping daily operations on track by managing people, machinery and jobs in real time. A large part of this role is people management and problem solving. You must be able to lead, motivate and support people, manage different personalities and make decisions when things do not go to plan.
What the Job Involves
- Running day-to-day agricultural contracting operations
- Working hands-on alongside crews when required
- Leading, motivating and supporting people on the ground
- Setting clear direction, standards and accountability
- Managing personalities and keeping the team aligned
- Clear, simple communication across the team
- Coordinating labour, machinery and logistics to meet tight timeframes
- Managing safety, fatigue and compliance in tough conditions
- Completing operational paperwork, job records and reporting
- Solving problems on the go and making sound decisions under pressure
- Acting as the link between management, clients and crew
- Setting the standard through your own attitude and work ethic
