Farming Manager - St George, QLD
 
A family-owned large-scale irrigated farming aggregation near St George seeks an experienced Farm Manager with expertise in irrigated cotton and cereal crops. This is a hands-on leadership role, and you are responsible for all cropping activities, including planning, input and production management, agronomy, and detailed reporting.
 
Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with the other Farming Area Manager, Chief Operations Officer, Owners, and Agronomists.
• Lead and manage a team of six, along with seasonal staff.
• Prepare and implement annual cropping plans and budgets, covering activities such as spraying, spreading, paddock preparation, planting, watering, fertilising, and harvest operations.
• Ensure all WHS standards are met.
• Oversee irrigation operations, with a strong focus on flood irrigation systems and water movement management.
• Conduct machinery repairs and servicing as required.
• Maintain strong team leadership, time management, logistics, and communication skills to execute tasks efficiently.

Ideal Candidate:

• Proven background in cotton production and flood irrigation.
• Hands-on approach with a mechanical mindset and the ability to teach and guide your team.
• Proficiency with computers, budgeting, and financial planning for cropping activities.
• Strong initiative, motivation, and excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to manage and motivate teams with a keen eye for detail.
