About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Chemist to join our Product team based in Sydney. Reporting to the Senior Chemist, you will play a key role in developing and evaluating innovative beauty and personal care formulations that bring new products to market for brands like McoBeauty.
Working collaboratively across Product Development, Product Creation, Regulatory and Quality, you'll support the full product development lifecycle. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career formulation scientist looking to grow their technical expertise within a dynamic and innovative environment.
Role & Responsibilities
- Develop, optimise and evaluate cosmetic formulations through laboratory trials, ingredient assessments and technical testing.
- Conduct stability, compatibility and product performance testing, maintaining accurate laboratory records and documentation.
- Prepare formulation samples and support manufacturing scale-up activities to ensure successful commercialisation.
- Partner with Product Development, Product Creation, Regulatory and Quality teams to provide scientific and technical support throughout the product lifecycle.
- Prepare and maintain formulation records, product specifications and technical documentation in line with quality and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance formulation practices, laboratory processes and scientific capability.
Skills & Experience - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cosmetic Science, Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
- 2+ years' experience in cosmetic formulation, chemistry or product development within the beauty, personal care or FMCG industry.
- Hands-on experience conducting laboratory formulation work, technical evaluations and scientific testing.
- Sound understanding of ingredient functionality, formulation principles and manufacturing processes.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A collaborative and proactive approach with strong problem-solving, communication and continuous learning skills.
