About The Role
The Accounts Receivable Officer is responsible for the timely and accurate collection of cash from customers, reconciliation of customer accounts, and management of credit processes. This role supports the Finance team in delivering financial objectives and maintaining strong customer relationships.
Role & Responsibilities
- Reconcile customer accounts, clear outstanding balances, investigate discrepancies, and ensure accurate allocation of incoming payments.
- Prepare monthly bad debt provisions and provide quarterly recommendations for write-offs based on account analysis.
- Assess new customer credit applications, recommend appropriate credit limits, and maintain accurate customer master data.
- Support internal and external audits by compiling required data and responding to queries in a timely manner.
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations, investigate variances, and ensure all reconciling items are resolved promptly.
- Contribute to ad hoc reporting, process improvements, and automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Skills & Experience - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate and resolve accounting issues through research and data analysis.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail, ensuring quality and reliability in financial reporting and reconciliations.
- Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and listening) with the ability to build effective relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities (including VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, formulas, and data analysis tools) and proficiency across Microsoft Office 365 suite.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a small, high-performing team environment.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in Accounts Receivable or a similar finance role, with a tertiary qualification in Accounting/Finance (CA/CPA or working towards advantageous); experience with ERP systems (e.g. Business Central) and regulated industries (pharma/FMCG) is desirable.
