About the role:
The Sales Manager – Hospital drives budgeted financial performance by leading the field force, rolling out commercial strategies that align with corporate goals, and spotting growth opportunities. Candidates from Melbourne or Sydney will be considered.
By coaching Key Account Managers, the role builds their capability to secure short, medium, and long-term wins for hospital customers. Leading by example, the manager pushes for faster new-product adoption, rigorous customer segmentation, and strategic, results-oriented business plans for priority accounts.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Manage and coach the Hospital Sales Team of 4-6 direct reports across the country (including Key Account Managers and Tenders staff), fostering a high-performance, customer-first culture aligned with business objectives and health outcomes.
- Set KPIs, monitor performance across revenue, market share, and profitability, and ensure achievement of sales targets through effective team support and development.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to create and execute strategic sales plans, territory strategies, and new product launches while ensuring effective resource allocation and CRM usage.
- Deliver in-field coaching based on performance needs, promote best practices, and build a strong talent pipeline within the team.
- Oversee preparation, submission, and review of tenders, ensuring competitiveness and alignment with commercial strategy.
- Maintain sales forecasts, align with supply chain to ensure product availability, and respond proactively to market opportunities and risks.
- Analyse and report on sales performance, market trends, and customer insights, using data to refine strategies and support budget planning.
Skills & Experience: - Proven track record in leading high-performing sales teams to meet or exceed sales, profitability, and budget targets. Ideally experience in the pharmaceutical, healthcare or related industry.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful national sales strategies aligned with business goals and market opportunities.
- Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, and financial management within a sales environment.
- Deep knowledge of the Australian healthcare system, including market dynamics, regulatory requirements, and key stakeholder engagement.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a proven ability to build strong relationships with customers and cross-functional internal teams.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to interpret sales data and use CRM and BI tools to support decisions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications and comfort working with digital systems and reporting tools.
- Bachelor's degree in life sciences, pharmacy, business, or a related field, with a valid Australian driver’s license and willingness to travel interstate 1–2 times per month.
