Lynx Recruitment are working with a well-established and fast-growing residential construction company that's hiring for a Senior Estimator
With a strong project pipeline and a reputation for delivering quality multi-unit and standalone builds, they’re now on the lookout for a Senior Estimator to join the team.

The Role

• As Senior Estimator, you’ll be a key player in shaping project success from day one.
• Ownership of cost planning, tendering, and value engineering—working closely with clients, consultants, suppliers, and internal teams to secure profitable work and deliver strong outcomes.
• You won’t just be crunching numbers—you’ll be influencing decisions, spotting risks before they become issues, and bringing new ideas to the table that improve margins and build smarter.

 
Day to Day in the role:

• Leading tenders and detailed cost plans for a wide range of residential and medium-density developments
• Providing early cost advice and feasibility assessments for upcoming projects
• Collaborating with project managers, architects, and suppliers to develop competitive, accurate bids
• Reviewing drawings and documentation to ensure estimates are based on solid foundations
• Keeping up with NZ market trends, pricing shifts, and compliance requirements
• Supporting and mentoring junior estimators, and contributing to continuous improvement

 
What We’re Looking For:

• 7–10 years’ experience in estimating—ideally with a residential or medium-density focus
• A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management
• Strong understanding of NZ building codes, contract standards, and industry regulations
• Confidence with estimating software, reading plans, and preparing detailed cost models
• Clear communicator who can present information with accuracy and insight
• Someone who’s motivated, reliable, and enjoys working as part of a collaborative team
