Home to the Wirangu people, Ceduna is the epicentre of business for the Far West Coast of the Eyre Peninsula, South Australia. It lies on Denial Bay along the Great Australian Bight, 550km northwest of Adelaide.
It is a charming town with a diverse multicultural community and a notable First Nations population. It serves as the central hub for a rural region acclaimed for its agriculture, salt, gypsum mining, and seafood.Ceduna is amidst a patchwork of grain farms, natural bush, rugged rocky bays, secluded white sandy beaches and wilderness.
Things to do
Visit the Ceduna Aboriginal Arts and Culture Center, discover artwork by over 100 different Indigenous artists in the Far West region, and hear the local languages of the Wirangu and Kookatha people. It is an excellent opportunity to buy some art connected to a country.
The area is well-known for its oysters, particularly at the Ceduna Oyster Bar located at the town's edge. You can discover the local oyster industry and purchase fresh oysters straight from the producers. Fresh oysters are also available directly from growers in Denial Bay and Smoky Bay, which host the majority of the area's oyster farms.
With plenty of accommodation options and a fully serviced town centre, embracing the bushland's isolation and the coast's dramatic beauty is a fantastic getaway.
