About the role
As Clinical Nurse Leader, you will balance visible leadership on the floor with responsibility for clinical quality, team capability and continuous improvement. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will coordinate care informed by Residential Assessment Instrument (RAI) assessments, engage constructively with residents and whānau and support teams to deliver safe, effective and compassionate care now and into the future. This role will suit someone who enjoys shaping practice, developing others and leading change in a way that brings people with them.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver values based, professional leadership across nursing and care teams.
- Provide clinical leadership and oversight to ensure safe, high‑quality care delivery.
- Ensure practice aligns with Nursing Council of New Zealand competencies, Health & Disability Services Standards and Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
- Support coordinated, multidisciplinary care informed by RAI assessments.
- Promote person‑centred, holistic and culturally appropriate care.
- Build strong, respectful relationships with residents, whānau, GPs and the wider care community, including managing complex situations.
- Lead quality, risk and compliance activities, including incidents, complaints and continuous improvement.
- Maintain strong health and safety practices across the service.
- Lead, mentor and develop teams through coaching, training and feedback.
- Foster an inclusive, mana‑enhancing workplace culture.
- Work closely with the Chief Executive, Board and external health professionals, providing clear clinical and quality reporting.
- Identify and implement improvements that strengthen care quality and build future capability.

Qualifications & Experience - Registered Nurse with a current Nursing Council of New Zealand practising certificate.
- Minimum three years’ experience in aged care or a related clinical leadership role.
- Strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and cultural safety in practice.
- Sound knowledge of the Health & Disability Commissioner Code of Rights and complaints processes.
