About the Opportunity -
We’re building simple, smart technology that works for farmers and their stakeholders. This role is central to how we deliver that. You’ll lead mobile application development across our platform, owning architecture, delivery quality, and technical leadership. We need someone who can lift standards, guide others confidently, and collaborate closely across the business. This is a long-term role. You’ll be part of the core team shaping how we scale. This role is permanently based in Waharoa, New Zealand. If you are relocating, we’ll support that process.
  
 What You’ll Lead -

• End-to-end mobile development across Android and iOS, including feature planning, architecture, development, testing, and deployment.
• Mentor, coach, and develop a high-performing internal engineering capability, building a culture of accountability and shared ownership.
• Work directly with product, operations, and leadership to translate needs into technical solutions that are reliable, scalable, and user-friendly.
• Set development standards, review code, and improve system design, testing, and delivery processes.
• Manage release cycles, deployment strategies, version upgrades, and ongoing performance improvements.
• Collaborate with external partners, offshore developers, and hardware vendors, including direct communication with manufacturing and integration partners in China.

 Your Strengths (What We’re Looking For) -

• Proven leadership experience guiding high-performing Agile Scrum teams in fast-paced delivery environments.
• Demonstrable experience managing business-critical mobile applications within large-scale, complex enterprise environments.
• A proven track record of not just coaching but actively building leadership pipelines and tech-sharing programs to elevate team-wide capability.
• Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical groups; able to represent the engineering perspective clearly.
• Strong experience in:
• Android development (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose)
• iOS development exposure is beneficial
• Backend services (Node.js / microservices)
• AWS, CI/CD pipelines, build automation
• A calm, positive, collaborative presence who brings the best out of others.
