Our client is a professional accounting firm based in central Hamilton. They are driven to deliver a high level of service to their clients, and they cultivate a collaborative and caring culture with a strong emphasis on work-life balance.
Client work is varied and interesting, including work for SMEs, agri-businesses, foreign-based firms and property developers. Monthly training sessions keep the team learning and growing, and this role offers exciting development opportunities. It’s ideal for an Accountant with sound New Zealand experience, who has confidence in their technical skills and is keen to take on more with guidance from seniors.
About the role
You’ll manage your own portfolio of clients, engaging directly with them and building long-term relationships while making a meaningful impact.
Responsibilities will include the following:
- Ensuring clients are financially compliant with end-of-year financial statements, tax returns and management reporting.
- Providing meaningful business advice, insights and solutions across tax planning and business improvement to help businesses thrive.
- Reviewing work, mentoring junior team members and leading by example.
Ideally, we are looking for a qualified Chartered Accountant or someone working toward the qualification, but what matters most is your drive for technical proficiency, your experience, confidence, and ability to connect with clients. Full-time hours are preferred, but part-time options may be considered.
Knowledge and Experience
You will bring with you the following:
- Proven knowledge of NZ accounting practices and tax legislation.
- Confident interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to others.
- Demonstrated technical knowledge, including experience with Xero, XPM and Suite files.
- A detail-driven and technical focus with sound commercial awareness.
- A team-focused attitude, ambition and a sense of fun.
