What You'll Do Platform Engineer - Adaptiv (Market Risk Systems)Role Overview
We are seeking a
Platform Engineer to join the Market Risk technology team, responsible for
learning, supporting, and maintaining the Adaptiv market risk platform. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the
stability, reliability, and scalability of a core risk system used for regulatory, stress testing, and daily risk reporting.
This position is well‑suited for an engineer who enjoys working with
complex systems, building deep domain knowledge, and partnering closely with
Risk, Quant, Data, and Infrastructure teams. You will be supported while ramping up on Adaptiv but will be expected to grow into a
subject‑matter contributor who can independently diagnose issues, perform platform changes, and improve operational resilience over time.
Key ResponsibilitiesAdaptiv Platform Support & Operations
- Learn the Adaptiv market risk platform, including its architecture, configurations, batch processes, calculations, and integrations
- Provide production support for Adaptiv processing, including:
- Monitoring batch runs and system health
- Diagnosing and resolving job failures or data issues
- Supporting month‑end, stress, and regulatory processing
- Participate in an on‑call or operational support rotation as required
Platform Engineering & Maintenance
- Maintain and configure Adaptiv components to support evolving business and regulatory needs
- Perform environment maintenance, including upgrades, patching, configuration changes, and platform tuning
- Implement improvements to:
- Stability and reliability
- Observability and monitoring
- Error handling and recoverability
- Reduce manual intervention through automation and better operational tooling
Incident & Problem Management
- Serve as a technical responder for Adaptiv‑related incidents
- Partner with vendors, infrastructure teams, and internal stakeholders to resolve complex issues
- Perform root‑cause analysis and implement preventative fixes
- Contribute to post‑incident reviews and continuous‑improvement plans
Collaboration & Domain Learning
- Work closely with:
- Market Risk and Credit Risk partners
- Quantitative and analytics teams
- Data engineering and platform teams
- Build working knowledge of:
- Market risk concepts (e.g., VaR, sensitivities, stress testing)
- How Adaptiv outputs are consumed downstream
- Translate business and risk requirements into technical platform changes
Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
- Create and maintain technical documentation covering:
- Adaptiv workflows and configurations
- Common failure modes and resolutions
- Operational runbooks
- Contribute to reducing single‑point‑of‑failure knowledge through shared ownership and documentation
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience in a platform engineering, production support, or systems engineering role
- Experience supporting batch‑oriented, compute‑intensive platforms in production
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex system and data issues
- Working knowledge of:
- Linux/Unix environments
- Scripting languages (e.g., Python, Shell)
- Relational databases (e.g., SQL)
- Comfort working in a highly controlled, regulated production environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience with Adaptiv, market risk platforms, or risk analytics systems
- Background in financial services, capital markets, or risk technology
- Familiarity with:
- Scheduling tools
- Cloud platforms and data services
- Monitoring and observability tooling
- Exposure to market risk concepts (training provided if not previously experienced)
