Job Title: Data Architect / Principal Data Engineer III
Location: Cincinnati, OH (Hybrid – Onsite 3-4 days/week)

Overview We are seeking a Data Architect / Principal Data Engineer III to lead a large-scale migration initiative from DB2 to a modern Cloud Data Platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP). The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in data architecture, ETL/ELT design, automation, and data quality with strategic leadership to deliver phased, governed, and validated migration outcomes. This position requires strong collaboration with business, operations, and technology partners across the enterprise.
Top Skills Must Have
- Proven experience in Business Intelligence and Data Engineering within large-scale environments
- Strong database design and SQL optimization skills
- Hands-on experience leading or executing enterprise-scale data migrations
- Understanding of data validation, reconciliation, and quality control frameworks
Nice to Have - Experience with Java and WebSphere Application Server (WAS 9)
- Familiarity with DevOps practices for data pipelines and CI/CD integration
- Knowledge of big data frameworks (Spark, Hadoop)
- Working experience with Python or ETL scripting languages (Informatica, DataStage, ADF)
- Cloud experience in Azure Synapse, Databricks, AWS Glue, or GCP BigQuery
Key Responsibilities - Architect and implement end-to-end migration strategies from DB2 to Cloud, ensuring data consistency, lineage, and reconciliation.
- Design and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines for data ingestion, transformation, and delivery.
- Build Python-based automation scripts for data validation and quality checks.
- Define and manage migration phases, checkpoints, and control metrics to ensure accuracy and auditability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—DBAs, architects, and business stakeholders—to meet compliance and performance goals.
- Contribute to data modeling, metadata management, and governance frameworks to align with enterprise data standards.
- Support post-migration verification, ensuring business continuity and reporting integrity.
Qualifications - 8+ years in data engineering, architecture, or analytics
- 3+ years of data migration experience involving large data volumes and multiple LOBs
- Expertise in SQL, DB2, ETL/ELT frameworks, and Python scripting
- Cloud exposure in Azure, AWS, or GCP data ecosystem
- Strong understanding of Payments and Treasury Management systems preferred
- Excellent communication, documentation, and cross-team collaboration skills
