About the Role A National Grocery Retailer is seeking a Senior Data Quality Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and execution of quality engineering practices for mission-critical retail applications. This role combines technical leadership with hands-on test automation, ensuring that customer-facing and associate-facing systems perform flawlessly at scale. You will collaborate closely with engineering squads, account managers, and product leaders to deliver high-quality, modernized retail technology that impacts millions of customers daily.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead Quality Engineering Strategy – Define and implement best-in-class quality practices across multiple engineering squads.
• Drive Test Automation – Build scalable, maintainable frameworks using Karate (BDD), Selenium, and API testing tools.
• System Modernization – Support migration of legacy systems into modern, cloud-based, customer-facing applications.
• Performance & Production Validation – Implement robust performance, load, and monitoring practices for high-availability systems.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration – Act as a quality advocate, partnering with engineering, product, and account managers.
• Mentorship – Guide and upskill junior QA engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Core Competencies

• Test strategy design, shift-left and preventative testing
• API, integration, and end-to-end test automation
• Test data management and validation for large datasets
• Performance and cloud-native testing methodologies
• Translating quality data into insights and risk forecasts

Qualifications

• 6+ years in quality engineering roles with increasing leadership responsibility
• Strong expertise in Karate, Selenium, REST API testing (hands-on required)
• Familiarity with performance tools (e.g., JMeter, Locust)
• Experience in Agile/DevOps environments and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
