Lead Platform Engineer Location: Onsite – Cincinnati, OH

About the Role A leading National Bank is building a new, high-impact engineering team, and we are seeking a very senior Platform Engineer to step into a leadership role. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping infrastructure strategy, mentoring team members, and delivering enterprise-scale platform solutions.
The ideal candidate is a proven technical leader who combines deep platform engineering expertise with the ability to guide and inspire a team. You’ll set direction, enforce best practices, and ensure delivery of secure, scalable, and resilient platforms for mission-critical banking applications.
Key Responsibilities

• Leadership & Strategy
  
  • Lead a team of platform engineers, fostering collaboration, accountability, and growth.
  • Define platform architecture, standards, and best practices.
  • Partner with technology and business leaders to align platform engineering with strategic goals.
• Platform Engineering
  
  • Design, implement, and maintain enterprise-scale platforms across hybrid cloud and on-prem environments.
  • Oversee automation, configuration management, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Ensure platform reliability, observability, and resilience at scale.
• Delivery & Execution
  
  • Champion cloud-native design and modern DevOps practices.
  • Drive security, compliance, and performance in highly regulated environments.
  • Lead the team in building and supporting containerized applications (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift).

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional IT / platform engineering experience.
• 5+ years in a technical leadership role leading teams, mentoring engineers, and owning platform delivery.
• Strong expertise in infrastructure automation, containerization, and orchestration (Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker).
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP) and hybrid environments.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, observability tooling, and infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible, or similar).
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to align technical and business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in financial services or other regulated industries.
• Knowledge of security, compliance, and risk management in platform design.
• Familiarity with service mesh, API gateways, and advanced monitoring solutions.
