Most freight forwarding BD roles hand you a phone, a territory and a wish. This one hands you a live pipeline.

The previous incumbent didn't leave - they were promoted and relocated interstate with the business. What they built is still warm, and it's now yours to run with, alongside a genuine blank canvas to grow your own portfolio across QLD and nationally.

The Brisbane team is eight people, including one other BD. Small enough that your results are visible. Backed by an operations team experienced enough that you're not the one chasing paperwork.

The commission structure is worth reading twice. Year one at 10% of GP means a strong hunter is rewarded properly while the portfolio is being built, and the ongoing tail means the accounts you win keep paying you.

The Opportunity

This is a hunter role. You'll own new business development across sea freight, FCL and LCL, 3PL and warehousing, and general freight forwarding services — with a warm pipeline to work from day one and full licence to build the rest yourself.

Target markets include general cargo importers and exporters with recurring volumes, mining and industrial consumables, mining spare parts and equipment, container freight and 3PL solutions.

You'll be on the road, in front of customers, and supported by an operations team that handles implementation once the deal is signed — you stay involved as the relationship and account owner rather than getting buried in operational detail.

What You'll Be Doing

• Building and converting a pipeline of new freight forwarding opportunities
• Running client meetings and BD activity across the territory
• Preparing quotations and proposals — with operations supporting the complex ones
• Working alongside operations through customer onboarding and implementation
• Maintaining relationships and identifying growth within the accounts you win

What Success Looks Like

Clear, commercial and no guesswork: deliver gross profit equivalent to three times your annual salary, and maintain a healthy pipeline in the vicinity of $20M in revenue opportunities. If you're the kind of BD who likes knowing exactly what the scoreboard says, you'll appreciate that.

About You

• A proven record of winning new business and growing revenue — not just farming existing accounts
• Experience selling imports and exports, sea freight, container freight (FCL and LCL), and warehousing / 3PL solutions
• General cargo background preferred over project logistics
• Strong commercial acumen, negotiation skills and confidence preparing quotations and proposals
• Comfortable building a territory from scratch and working autonomously, while collaborating closely with internal teams
• Full Australian working rights (Citizen, PR or NZ Citizen)

Why This Role?

Plenty of forwarders will offer you a base and a target. Fewer will hand you an existing pipeline, fund your study, pay 10% on year-one gross profit, and show you the person who last held the seat getting promoted.
