Payroll Officer/Finance Officer
Freighter Group is looking for a detail-oriented and organised Payroll & Finance Officer to join our finance team.
 
This is a hands-on hybrid role that combines responsibility for the accurate and timely processing of payroll with the day-to-day finance operations. We're looking for someone who enjoys working across all areas, takes pride in getting the details right, and can manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
 
About the Role
Reporting to the Payroll Supervisor, you will play an important role in ensuring our employees are paid accurately and on time, while also maintaining efficient and accurate finance processes.
 
Your responsibilities will include:
 
Payroll

• Process fortnightly/monthly payroll accurately and on time.
• Maintain employee payroll records and ensure changes are correctly processed.
• Manage new starters, terminations, leave, allowances, deductions and other payroll adjustments.
• Ensure payroll is processed in accordance with relevant legislation, awards and company policies.
• Process superannuation and payroll-related payments and reconciliations.
• Prepare payroll reports and assist with payroll-related queries from employees and managers.
• Assist with year-end payroll processes, including income statements and STP requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality of employee and payroll information.

Finance Officer

• Reconciliations
• Maintain accurate records.
• Data entry
• Support the wider finance team with general accounting and administrative tasks as required.

About You
You will be a reliable and detail-focused finance professional who enjoys working across finance.
 
Ideally, you will have:

• Previous experience in payroll, or a similar finance role.
• Experience processing payroll from start to finish.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good understanding of payroll processes, compliance and statutory requirements.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• The ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A high level of discretion when dealing with confidential information.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting/payroll systems.
• A proactive approach and willingness to take ownership of your responsibilities.

Experience in the transport, logistics or freight industry will be highly regarded, but is not essential.
