Accountant - Secondary College
We are currently looking for a qualified Accountant to oversee the business function of a secondary college setting.
This essential role will supervise and mentor our Finance and Administrative teams, while providing high level of administrative assistance to our Business Manager.
The successful candidate will model and foster collaborative and professional leadership within the College community.
Duties
Financial Stewardship and Reporting
▪ Maintenance of the General Ledger and processing of journals and all balance sheet
accounts.
▪ Maintaining the College Asset Register.
▪ Partner with coordinators to provide monthly budget analysis and variance reporting.
▪ Preparation of the monthly financial reports including analysis, forecasting and
reporting of key variations to budget for management.
▪ Preparation for and completion of all financial processing requirements at month end and year end, to ensure the College adheres to statutory accounting standards and coordinates the annual audit process.
▪ Monitor the College's cash and investments to maximise interest earned.
▪ Analysis of payroll reports and variations each pay cycle.
▪ Supporting the Finance Team with coverage for other duties, when necessary, such as during periods when leave is taken.
Business Operations
▪ Directly supervise and mentor the Finance and Administrative teams, including
strengthening internal controls and implementing a Professional Development
program for the teams.
▪ Drive improvements in the management of the College day-to-day finance and
administration operations.
▪ Providing input to strategic planning processes with an emphasis on innovation,
sustainability and quality control.
▪ Actively engage in and support the College's continuous improvement initiatives by collaborating with colleagues and participating in school improvement planning.
▪ Providing support for the Business Manager and/or Principal in relation to the full range of the College's business operations.
▪ Support procurement including tender compilation and contract management.
▪ Oversee the onboarding and compliance of external contractors, ensuring all site- access protocols and safety inductions are completed.
▪ As required, assist the Business Manager with College refurbishment and new
building projects.
Essential Qualifications
▪ Tertiary qualifications (Bachelor of Business, Accounting )and experience relevant to the role.
▪ Proficiency in the use of office systems and software.
