Cost Manager to Associate - Healthcare
Yorkshire | Hybrid Working
Competitive Salary + Car Allowance & Benefits
Permanent | Full-Time
Tempest Jones is supporting a leading international construction and property consultancy with several appointments across its growing Healthcare Cost Management team in Yorkshire.
With more than £2.5bn of healthcare projects being delivered across the region, this is an opportunity to become part of an established team working on some of Yorkshire's most significant healthcare developments.
We are interested in speaking with Cost Managers through to Associate-level professionals who want exposure to major projects and programmes, while developing their careers within a business that can offer genuine long-term progression.
The team works across multiple NHS Trusts throughout Yorkshire, providing the opportunity to build a varied portfolio of healthcare experience rather than being tied to a single project or client.
Importantly, the strength of the regional pipeline means you can work on major, complex programmes without the expectation of travelling around the UK.
The opportunity
Depending on your level and experience, you will take responsibility for the commercial and cost management of healthcare projects from early feasibility and business case stages through procurement, construction and completion.
Your responsibilities could include:
- Providing cost management advice throughout the project lifecycle
- Preparing cost plans, estimates and budgets
- Supporting procurement and tendering processes
- Managing valuations, variations and change control
- Producing cost reports and providing clear commercial advice to clients
- Working closely with project managers, design teams, contractors and other consultants
- Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
- Building strong relationships with NHS Trusts and other healthcare stakeholders
- Supporting and mentoring junior members of the Cost Management team
- At Associate level, taking greater responsibility for client relationships, project leadership and team development
About you We are open to speaking with people at different stages of their Cost Management career, from established Cost Managers looking to progress through to experienced Senior and Associate Cost Managers.
You will ideally have:
- Experience working within a consultancy, cost consultancy or similar professional environment
- A background in Quantity Surveying or Cost Management
- Experience delivering construction or property projects
- Strong commercial and client-facing skills
- The ability to manage projects and commissions with increasing levels of autonomy
- A relevant degree or professional qualification, or be working towards one
Previous healthcare experience would be advantageous, but it does not need to define your career to date. Candidates with strong transferable experience from other complex built environment sectors are also encouraged to apply.
Why consider this opportunity? The scale of the healthcare programme in Yorkshire creates an unusually strong platform for career development.
You will have the opportunity to work across more than £2.5bn of regional healthcare investment, gaining experience of major projects and programmes and working with multiple NHS Trusts.
For ambitious Cost Managers, there is a clear route to take on increasingly significant commissions, develop client relationships and progress into senior positions as the team continues to grow.
Alongside the scale of the work, these are projects with a tangible purpose, improving the environments in which patients receive care and healthcare professionals work.
And with such a significant pipeline already established across Yorkshire, you can gain major-project experience while keeping your career firmly based in the region.
