Senior Quantity Surveyor – NEC Contracts

Our client is a respected UK construction and property consultancy with a strong track record of delivering major public and private sector projects. They are supporting the delivery of one of the most ambitious industrial developments in the country the new open-die Forge at Sheffield Forgemasters  a landmark scheme of national importance that will reshape the city’s manufacturing capability and contribute to the UK’s defence and civil nuclear future.

This is a rare chance to join the commercial team at a pivotal stage, taking a lead role on a project that combines advanced manufacturing, large-scale engineering and sustainable construction practices.

The Role

You will be working closely with contractors, engineers and client teams to provide high-level commercial management, ensuring value and compliance throughout the project. You will take ownership of NEC contract administration, support procurement through public sector frameworks and manage the commercial delivery from feasibility to final account.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading feasibility studies and preparing procurement strategies that meet public sector compliance requirements
• Developing detailed cost plans and presenting to senior stakeholders
  
  
• Managing tender processes through established frameworks and public sector procedures
• Administering NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, including management of compensation events and early warnings
  
  
• Managing post-contract change control, valuations and cost reporting
  
  
• Leading value engineering initiatives to improve outcomes
  
  
• Negotiating and agreeing final accounts
  
  
• Building strong working relationships with clients, contractors and consultants
  
  
• Where appropriate, mentoring junior team members and contributing to team development
  
  

About You

• Proven experience delivering major projects using the NEC contract with hands-on administration experience. Note we don't need advanced manufacturing experience and you don't need to be a consultant.
  
  
• Familiarity with public sector frameworks and procurement processes
  
  
• RICS or equivalent professional qualification preferred
  
  
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  
  
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively in a fast-paced setting
