As a growing consultancy they offer construction consultancy services to clients throughout the UK. Their focus on developing facilities for public, commercial, residential, and offshore sectors positions them at the centre of dynamic growth within these markets.
The role
They are now seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor, with residential experience, to be based out of their London office, who can successfully drive the business forward in the region, deliver existing projects, and maintain key client relationships, whilst being an integral part of their wider business plan.
You will undertake pre and post-contract quantity surveying duties for private developments and public sector projects, with values between £1m and £350m.
Key responsibilities;
- Apply best practice cost and commercial skills to specific projects or as part of a larger programme of work. Ensure timely action and appropriate advice to complete projects within budget and programme.
- Manage a project's commercial resources effectively across its lifecycle to achieve project objectives.
- Actively identify and resolve client needs, demands, and problems promptly. Manage stakeholder expectations regarding the commissioning and procurement of services.
- Responsibility for continuous cost and commercial management and monitoring of projects, ensuring timely and accurate information.
- Proactive identification and mitigation of business risks across the entire project lifecycle, from pre-contract to close-out. Implement and maintain robust risk management strategies, risk registers, and contingencies to effectively minimise identified risks.
- Offer unambiguous leadership to project teams, encompassing designers, contractors, and suppliers. Ensure timely decision-making and clear communication of instructions.
- Maximise project profitability by implementing and continuously improving client commercial processes and procedures.
- Implement and sustain transparent reporting frameworks, while continuously monitoring resources and costs to guarantee projects achieve their predetermined objectives.
- Safeguard our client's interests by applying a comprehensive understanding of contractual, commercial, insurance, and legal aspects pertinent to contracts.
- Proactively engage in personal professional development while actively supporting and guiding the growth of fellow commercial team members.
- Assist in establishing and managing crucial business operations, including their portal for process and document storage.
The candidate We are seeking a confident, entrepreneurial and ambitious individual with a commercial mindset. The ideal candidate will be eager to work hard and contribute to an exciting and growing business.
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- MRICS or working towards highly desirable, or membership of other recognised body.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience.
- Residential experience is desirable.
- Demonstrable experience in providing cost management services of building projects. This includes a comprehensive understanding from initial feasibility and option studies, through detailed cost planning, to post-contract services.
- Extensive consultancy experience across diverse projects and sectors.
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in Value Engineering and Risk Management techniques.
- Highly proficient in the main standard forms of building contracts, especially the JCT suite.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills, coupled with excellent communication and client-facing abilities.
- Able to generate new business enquiries.
