Purpose of the Position The Tertiary Enabling Coordinator is responsible for preparing and delivering Batchelor Institute’s Tertiary Enabling Program. The position will develop all teaching content and teaching material. The program will include topics such as social science, science, health, literacy and numeracy, and Indigenous perspectives. The course will provide graduates with pathways into higher education courses.
The Batchelor Institute tertiary enabling program will be underpinned by the Institute’s philosophy of two-way learning.
Duties - Develop teaching content and material for Batchelor Institute’s tertiary enabling program.
- Deliver the tertiary enabling program to Indigenous mature age students.
- Ensure that all teaching in the tertiary enabling program is underpinned by Batchelor Institute’s two-way philosophy.
- Monitor the progress of all tertiary enabling students including the marking of assessments and providing feedback to students.
- Engage guest lecturers as appropriate to enhance the learning journey of tertiary enabling students.
- Provide leadership and supervision of lecturing staff in the tertiary enabling program.
- Contribute to the development and teaching of other higher education courses when required.
- Maintain positive and productive relationships internally and with external stakeholders.
- Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by your line manager.
Selection Criteria - Previous experience in the development and delivery of tertiary enabling programs.
- Previous experience delivering education programs to Indigenous people.
- An understanding and appreciation of Indigenous perspectives.
- An understanding of the issues that impact on mature age Indigenous students.
- The ability to inspire and engage Indigenous mature age students.
- The ability to lead and supervise higher education lecturing staff.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in culturally diverse teams within the social, political, and cultural environments of Indigenous Australian families, communities, and organisations.
- Highly effective interpersonal skills including proficient written and oral communication which can be adapted to meet the needs of people from all educational levels.
- Ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated initiative and managing workload priorities.
- Understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and practices, and ability to comply with Institute WHS Policies and Procedures.
