Required Qualifications Applicants must meet the Credential Policy 2025 requirements including to hold:

• TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or its successor, or
• TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or
• TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, or
• A diploma or higher-level qualification in adult education or vocational education and training, or

A secondary teaching qualification and one of the following
credentials:

• TAESS00011 Assessor Skill Set, or
• TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set or its successor, or
• TAESS00024 VET Delivered to School Students Teacher Enhancement Skill Set or its successor.

AND:

• A tertiary qualification equivalent to five (5) years of Higher Education in a Creative Industry field (Radio, Film or Visual Arts) relevant to the academic discipline field of this position preferably at Degree level or higher and / or equivalent qualification and / or substantial experience relevant to the position, and / or professional registration within the Northern Territory.

Purpose of the Position
The Senior Lecturer Creative Industries is responsible for providing leadership and operational oversight of a team of trainers responsible for delivering a range of creative industries qualifications to Indigenous Australians within the context of Batchelor Institute's role as Australia's leading First Nations Tertiary Education and Research provider.

The Senior Lecturer Creative Industries is responsible for managing accountabilities for quality training, integrity of assessment, student outcomes, continuous improvement, budgets, and implementation of VET Training products and projects, underpinned by the Batchelor Institute Both-ways philosophy.

In addition, the Senior Lecturer Creative Industries will assist with planning, implementing, evaluating and reporting VET requirements in line with strategic and operational plans, and contractual obligations, ensuring national quality standards are consistently achieved and stakeholder obligations are met.
The role ensures training and assessment practices are educationally sound, industry-relevant, culturally appropriate, and compliant with regulatory requirements.

Duties

Leadership in Learning and Assessment

• Oversee the delivery and maintenance of VET programs to quality standards under the VET
• Quality Framework and industry frameworks where applicable, and aligned to Batchelor
• Institute philosophy, policies and Academic Rules.
• Manage section operations including leadership and day to day operations of the team. This includes but is not limited to staff supervision; administration; programming; delivery and assessment of courses; budget and human resource management; and compliance.
• Develop training and assessment strategies to ensure training products are implemented effectively and meet learner, industry, community and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate the development and maintenance of appropriate teaching, learning and assessment resources for VET courses.
• Contextualise program content and adapt teaching and assessment practices to suit specified enterprise needs and community values and aspirations.
• Guide reflection and critical analysis of educational delivery with staff (through validation, moderation and monitoring), student follow-up and the revision of training and assessment materials, ensuring that assessment meets the Principles of Assessment and Rules of Evidence.
• Participate in staff selection (including chairing of selection and interview panels), staff orientation and development, and staff quality management processes.
• Develop and implement approaches to build team vocational competence and industry currency, ensuring professional development obligations are met in line with the Credential Policy 2025.
• Deliver and assess one or more of the Creative Industries offerings across Certificate I to Diploma level.
• Ensure personal and professional development is continued in line with the Credential Policy 2025.

Administration & Compliance Obligations

• Monitor the scheduling and programming of courses to meet target delivery hours.
• Monitor the assessment of student performance.
• Ensure the administrative reporting requirements are met, including the maintenance of records of students' academic progression, and records of enrolment and completion.
• Ensure compliance with the Standards for RTOs 2025 and relevant legislation.

Industry and Community Engagement

• Represent the Institute in industry forums as required.
• Maintain close liaison with relevant industry partners including external organisations and agencies, ensuring training and assessment meets or exceeds expectations and that teaching and assessment practices reflect current industry trends and community values and
• aspirations.
• Demonstrate leadership in professional and community networks and provide advice and guidance about industry developments and changes.

Selection Criteria

1. Demonstrated capacity to work effectively and sensitively within historical, social, political and cultural environments similar to those of Indigenous Australian communities and organisations of the Northern Territory.
2. Demonstrated ability to lead and contribute to the development of teaching and learning programs and resources in accordance with the relevant national training packages, responding effectively to the learning needs of adult Indigenous Australians.
3. Demonstrated capacity to manage the associated administrative tasks related to the delivery of VET including ensuring internal and external quality assurance processes are met, relevant administrative responsibilities and HR matters.
4. 4Demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills including effectively managing culturally diverse teams across multiple locations, staff supervision and performance management.
5. Demonstrated operational management skills to manage program budgets, program scheduling, and project management, including the assessment of program risk.
6. Demonstrated commitment to undertaking professional development in area of expertise.
7. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40220) or willingness to obtain within a short timeframe.
