Purpose of the Position
Reporting to the Manager, Quality Assurance, the Quality Officer provides high-level administrative and operational support to the Institute’s quality assurance team and leads support for academic staff to ensure compliance with RTO quality expectations. The role oversees the review and validation of assessment tools and strategies, manages Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) processes, assists with audit readiness and internal spot audits, and drives continuous improvement activities to maintain defensible, high-quality training and assessment outcomes. Working collaboratively with VET lecturers, senior leaders and administrative teams, the position translates regulatory change into practical processes, maintains accurate compliance documentation and quality records, delivers targeted training and induction, and fosters strong stakeholder engagement. All duties are performed in alignment with Batchelor Institute’s Both Ways philosophy to ensure culturally responsive quality practice and meaningful partnership with Indigenous communities.
Duties
• In consultation with the Quality Compliance Officer develop a process for monitoring and
maintenance of VET standards within the organisation.
• Facilitate engagement with Batchelor Institute VET Senior Lecturers and VET Lectures in the
participation of continuous improvement activities.
• Provide support in assisting Senior Lecturers and Lecturers in the implementation of changes to
Standards, Qualification packaging rules and training Package updates as advised by ASQA.
• Provide training to staff in relation to developing resources, when requested.
• Contribute to Quality Induction and orientation for new VET staff concerning quality processes
within the organisation.
• Participate as an auditor with internal audits.
• Participate in various Committees as required.
• Share responsibilities with other QA members on the management of the Share Point Quality
Management site.
• Create and maintain RPL administration systems as needed and support students through the
RPL system and processes.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by your line manager
Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in culturally diverse teams within the social, political,
and cultural environments of Indigenous Australian families, communities, and organisations.
2. Highly effective interpersonal skills including proficient written and oral communication which
can be adapted to meet the needs of people from all educational levels.
3. Ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
4. Demonstrated initiative and managing workload priorities.
5. Understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and practices, and ability to comply with
Institute WHS Policies and Procedures.
6. Demonstrated proficiency with a range of software applications and web-based platforms (for
example LMS, SharePoint, data management and workflow tools), with the ability to configure
systems, manage records and optimise digital processes to support quality assurance functions.
7. A clear understanding of the National VET Quality Framework and the Standards for RTOs,
including practical experience interpreting regulatory requirements and applying them to
training and assessment practice.
8. Experience planning and conducting audits, collating and analysing quantitative and qualitative
data, and synthesising findings into clear, executive-level reports and presentations that inform
corrective actions and continuous improvement.
9. Ability to design, deliver and evaluate targeted training, professional development and induction
programs for internal stakeholders to embed quality practice and support compliance.
Desirable
• Relevant qualification and/or experience in quality auditing, adult education, or training design
and development.
• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
