Purpose of the Position
Student Services is the primary customer interface and support between the Institute and prospective students, and the key point of contact and support for students enrolled at the Institute. This includes overseeing the provision of support services for students, regardless of ability.

The core functions of Student Services include:

• Student Inquiries & Advocacy
• Well-being support for students
• Individual support through Care/Support plans
• Indigenous Tutorial Assistance Scheme (ITAS)

Duties

• Implementation of Student Experience Student Orientation for all students enrolled with the Institute.
• Provision and implementation of Pastoral Care and Support Services to students.
• Promote the understanding of Student Services processes to internal and external clients.
• Maintenance and review of relevant databases, electronic data systems, forms, documents pertaining to Student Services.
• Oversee the implementation of Institute policy, procedures and expected standards and behaviors of the student code of conduct.
• Evaluation of current and contribution towards new developments to improve Student Services activities.
• Contribute database reviews and process improvement projects within Student Services, Student Experience and the Institute.
• Responsible for effective and efficient electronic communication relating to student relevant stakeholders, i.e. Student & Residential Services Manager, Student Experience Directorate, Facilities, WHS, and Academic Divisions.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by your line manager.

Selection Criteria

1. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in culturally diverse teams within the social, political, and cultural environments of Indigenous Australian families, communities, and organisations.
2. Proven experience providing quality support services or customer services, preferably in a tertiary education context.
3. Demonstrated capability in participating in a diverse team to obtain outcomes of success.
4. Demonstrated capacity to undertake personal initiatives, making decisions appropriate to the level of responsibility of the position, time management skills, initiative, and managing complex workload priorities.
5. Demonstrated capability in analysis, review, and implementation at team level.
6. Highly effective interpersonal skills including proficient written and oral communication which can be adapted to meet the needs of people from all educational levels.
7. Highest degree of personal resilience, reliability, integrity, accountability and confidentiality.
8. Demonstrated high level skills in using commonly used office software and databases (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) with good attention to detail.
9. Understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and practices, and ability to comply with Institute WHS Policies and Procedures.

Desirable

• A minimum tertiary qualification of a Certificate IV level or higher in a relevant discipline (or working towards completion of), or a mix of tertiary qualifications and relevant experience in a similar role.
• Ability to quickly acquire knowledge of the Institute’s structure, functions, and objectives.
