Purpose of the Position
The primary objective of the position is to ensure the Institute receives payments for goods and services, including grants and subsidies, and records these transactions accurately. This includes securing revenue by verifying and posting receipts, resolving discrepancies, and maintaining the integrity of accounts receivable processes. The position works closely with the Team Leader Accounting Services within a diverse team environment.
Duties

• Process invoices, receipts, credit notes, reconciliations, end-of-year write-offs, maintain the AR register, and monitor the receivables inbox.
• Prepare daily banking journals, reconcile bank receipts, and assist with expenditure transfers.
• Manage corporate credit cards, including applications, cancellations, transaction processing, and staff training.
• Support reporting and audits while ensuring compliance with Institute policies and NT Government requirements.
• Provide advice on receivables and credit card processes, contribute to Finance team services, and undertake other duties as directed.

Selection Criteria

1. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in culturally diverse teams within the social, political, and cultural environments of Indigenous Australian families, communities, and organisations.
2. Highly effective interpersonal skills including proficient written and oral communication which can be adapted to meet the needs of people from all educational levels.
3. Ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
4. Demonstrated initiative and managing workload priorities.
5. Understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and practices, and ability to comply with Institute WHS Policies and Procedures.
6. Demonstrated experience in end-to-end accounts receivable processes, including invoicing, receipting, reconciliations, debt follow-up, and end-of-year adjustments.
7. Proven ability to use financial management systems (e.g. GAS or similar ERP software), particularly accounts receivable and general ledger modules.
8. Experience in daily banking processes, journals, and reconciliations, as well as administering and monitoring corporate credit cards.
9. Strong understanding of financial policies, procedures, and relevant government requirements, with a proven ability to maintain accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance.
