Purpose of the Position
The role is responsible for working with and supporting the library team in the delivery of high-quality reference services, library resources, programs and systems, to support Institute staff, students and the wider community.

Duties

• Ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
• Maintain a high standard of accuracy and consistency with bibliographic and cataloguing processes.
• Perform original and copy cataloguing, with an understanding of MARC records including RDA.
• Provide a high level of customer service and support to staff, students, and community members.
• Raise purchase orders, source material, receive and process acquisitions and invoices.
• Undertake collection management activities such as end-processing, mending, weeding, stock take, and donations, adhering to relevant policies and guidelines.
• Process and respond to reference inquiries, inter-library loans, and document delivery requests in a timely and professional manner.
• Monitor and order stationery supplies as required and other associated administrative tasks.
• Assist in planning and delivery of library programs, services and orientations
• Work as a member of a small library team, contributing positively through the sharing of knowledge, information, and processes.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by your line manager.

Selection Criteria

1. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in culturally diverse teams within the social, political, and cultural environments of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, communities, and organisations.
2. Highly effective interpersonal skills including proficient written and oral communication which can be adapted to meet the needs of people from all educational levels.
3. Ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
4. Demonstrated initiative and managing workload priorities.
5. Understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and practices, and ability to comply with Institute WHS Policies and Procedures.
6. Successful completion of Certificate IV or Diploma in Library/Information Services or equivalent and with relevant experience.
7. Proven ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and as a part of a team.
8. Demonstrated experience in the use of library management systems and collection management activities.
9. Demonstrated experience in providing a high-level reference service using a range of search strategies to locate resources including e-resources.
10. Advanced digital literacy and troubleshooting skills
