Purpose of the Position
The Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) Program will help Australians get the skills they need through reading, writing, maths and computer skills training.
  
The SEE Participant Support Officer (PSO) will support participants receiving general SEE services and distance learning services to feel supported in their learning so they can remain engaged in training and achieve their goals.

Duties

• Provide administrative support and efficient data entry with the ability to receive, collect and submit data requirements specific to the SEE project.
• Provide support to Participants virtually or face to face with the participant (The PSO conducts an initial 15 min session with participants during the first 25 hours of Language, Literacy, Numeracy and Digital skills training to help determine goals, pathways, and/or to request additional support).
• Provide support with referrals to, or assistance with accessing other services such as childcare so that participants can remain engaged in training.
• Work with trainers to support participants to transition into a formal training environment and to provide ongoing support to maximise learning opportunities.
• Assist in the planning, organisation and implementation of the SEE project activities under the direction of the SEE Project Officer.
• Undertake other reasonable duties as directed by your line manager.

Selection Criteria

1. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in culturally diverse teams within the social, political, and cultural environments of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families, communities, and organisations.
2. Highly effective interpersonal skills including proficient written and oral communication which can be adapted to meet the needs of people from all educational levels.
3. Ability to build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
4. Demonstrated initiative and managing workload priorities.
5. Understanding of Work Health and Safety principles and practices, and ability to comply with Institute WHS Policies and Procedures.
