Position: Linux Desktop Engineer
Client: Private Sector Technology Company
Location: Toronto (Hybrid)
Duration: 6 - 12 Months initially, potential for Contract to Hire
 
Overview:
- Must have experience with BigFix, Zscaler and engineering depth


Must-Have Skills

• 7+ years of Desktop Support experience in enterprise environments
• Strong Linux Desktop Support and Administration (Ubuntu, RHEL, CentOS, Rocky Linux)
• End-to-end desktop/laptop support including hardware, software, OS, and peripherals
• Experience with Level 2/Level 3 support and incident management
• Strong troubleshooting skills for Linux OS, applications, networking, VPN, and connectivity issues
• Experience with ServiceNow or similar ticketing systems
• Knowledge of Active Directory, LDAP, and user account management
• Shell scripting (Bash) and basic automation experience
• Excellent customer-facing communication skills

Key Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end support for Linux desktop and laptop environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex hardware, software, operating system, and application issues.
• Install, configure, patch, and maintain Linux desktop operating systems and applications.
• Support user onboarding, workstation deployments, upgrades, and hardware refresh activities.
• Manage incidents, service requests, and escalations while meeting SLA requirements.
• Troubleshoot network, VPN, printer, authentication, and connectivity issues.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, network, security, and application teams to resolve technical issues.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
• Act as a senior escalation point for desktop support-related issues and provide mentoring to junior team members.
