Position: Network Engineering - Team Lead
Client: Financial Sector
Location: Toronto (Hybrid) - 3 days onsite per week

Position Summary: The Team Lead - Network Engineering is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and operational support of enterprise network infrastructure across on-premises, colocation, and cloud environments. This role combines senior technical expertise with people leadership, operational governance, and cross-functional coordination.
The Team Lead ensures high availability, security, performance optimization, and operational compliance across routing, switching, wireless, firewall, SD-WAN, segmentation, and cloud networking platforms. This position serves as the primary technical escalation point while overseeing team capacity, delivery execution, and service performance metrics within a 24/7 production environment.

Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
- Manage user and stakeholder relationships across business and technology teams.
- Provide senior-level technical domain expertise and hands-on leadership across supported platforms.
- Act as primary technical escalation point for complex incidents and major outages.
- Manage team resources, recruitment support, capacity planning, and on-call rotation scheduling.
- Oversee workload prioritization and ensure service delivery alignment with business objectives.
- Lead change and incident management coordination across infrastructure, security, cloud, and application teams.
- Coordinate and drive network-related project initiatives and infrastructure upgrades.
- Deliver operational reporting on capacity, platform health, change activities, and incident metrics.
Technical & Operational Oversight
- Oversee enterprise network operations including incident response and problem management.
- Ensure proactive platform health monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity management.
- Govern firewall, segmentation, and VPN rule management processes.
- Oversee failover and disaster recovery (DR) testing.
- Ensure compliance with ITSM processes and operational standards.
- Supervise hardware lifecycle management, patching, firmware upgrades, and vulnerability remediation.
- Provide oversight of Equinix colocation operations, carrier circuit provisioning, and infrastructure deployments.
Qualifications - 7+ years of enterprise network engineering experience, with demonstrated leadership responsibilities.
- Proven experience operating within high-availability, mission-critical environments.
- Experience leading technical teams in hybrid cloud networking environments (AWS/Azure).
- Strong experience managing firewall and segmentation governance at scale.
Technical Competencies - Deep expertise in TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, QoS, IPsec, SSL VPN, and enterprise network security architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco networking, Palo Alto platforms, SD-WAN, ISE, DNAC, and monitoring tools.
- Strong understanding of carrier connectivity, colocation deployments, and cross-connect provisioning.
- Familiarity with automation and infrastructure-as-code practices is advantageous.
