Role: Power Apps & Power BI Developer
Client: Financial Banking Sector
Location: Greater Toronto Area (GTA) - Hybrid
Work arrangement: Hybrid (2-3 days onsite in office)
Duration: 4 Months
 
Background:
We are seeking a skilled Power Apps & Power BI Developer for a 4-month hybrid contract with a leading financial institution. The successful candidate will modernize reporting solutions, migrate legacy Excel reports to Power BI, and build scalable applications using Microsoft Power Platform tools.
 
Key Responsibilities:

Application Development & Automation

• Design and deploy custom business applications using Power Apps (Canvas and Model-Driven).
• Automate workflows using Power Automate to streamline business processes and integrate with third-party systems.

Reporting & Analytics

• Build and optimize Power BI dashboards and reports using advanced DAX, Power Query (M), and data modeling techniques.
• Migrate legacy Excel-based reports to Power BI, ensuring accuracy and performance.

Data Integration & Modeling

• Connect Power Platform tools to data sources including Dataverse, SharePoint, and SQL Server.
• Apply best practices in data modeling (star schema, normalization, KPI calculations, composite models).

Collaboration & Support

• Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver user-friendly solutions.
• Provide ongoing support and enhancements for existing Power Platform solutions.

 
Required Technical Skills:

• Power BI: Data modeling, DAX, Power Query (M), Power BI Service, workspace management.
• Power Platform: Power Apps (Canvas & Model-Driven), Power Automate.
• Data Integration: SharePoint Lists/Libraries, Dataverse connectors.
• Excel Migration Expertise: Deep understanding of Excel formulas, pivot tables, Power Query, macros/VBA, and conversion strategies.

 
Preferred Experience:

• 3-6 years in data analytics, BI, or reporting roles.
• Prior experience migrating legacy Excel reports to Power BI.
• Familiarity with governance and security best practices in Power Platform.

 
Nice to Have:

• Microsoft certifications (PL-100, PL-400).
• Experience with Agile or Scrum methodologies.
• Ability to build custom connectors for Power Platform.
