Position: Senior Enterprise AWS Data Architect
Client: Public Sector
Location: Remote, National Capital Region Preferred
Duration: 9-month initial contract

Background: 
 
Kyndryl Canada is supporting our public sector client in the design, development, and implementation of a secure and scalable data integration and management solution. This Data Layer project aims to streamline data processes and ensure seamless accessibility while maintaining the highest standards of security.

We are seeking an Enterprise AWS Data Architect to perform end to end data architecture, create VPC’s, Subnets and Security Groups, ensure system scalability, collaborate with security analysts, implement backup policies and design and implement secure API’s.
 
Qualifications:
 

• Relevant Certification (preferably in data architecture and/or AWS)
• Extensive hands-on experience with End to End Date Architecture
• Experience creating VPC’s, Subnets and Security Groups within AWS
• Experience Managing S3 Bucket Architecture
• Degree or Diploma in Technology, Engineering, or Project Management or related field.
• Active Government of Canada security clearance (mandatory)

 
 
Expected Tasks:
 
Develop and Oversee the End-to-End Architecture

• Gathering and analyzing requirements to ensure alignment with data governance standards.
• Developing visual representations and documentation for the Data Layer architecture.
• Validating that the architecture integrates seamlessly with the Enterprise Data Catalogue.

 
Configure VPCs, Subnets, and Security Groups within AWS

• Create and manage a VPC setup within the AWS environment that supports secure data transfer.
• Configure public and private subnets to control inbound and outbound traffic effectively.
• Define security groups as needed for data access and security.

 
Manage S3 Bucket Architecture

• Managing and maintaining a structured architecture for S3 buckets (Landing, Raw, Transformed).
• Establishing policies for data encryption, partitioning, and lifecycle management while minimizing storage costs.

 
Structure Data Zones for Efficiency

• Ensuring that the Landing, Raw, and Transformed zones are designed for optimal data processing and querying.

 
Collaborate with Security Analysts and Stakeholders

• Working closely with security analysts and stakeholders to meet Interim Authority to Operate/Authority to Operate (iATO/ATO) requirements.
• Ensuring compliance of the solution with policies and regulations.

 
Design a Disaster Recovery and High-Availability Strategy

• Creating a comprehensive disaster recovery plan for the Data Layer by leveraging AWS Services, while keeping cost-efficiency in mind.
• Designing multi-region setups to ensure data resilience and availability.

 
Implement Backup Policies and Data Replication

• Defining and implementing backup policies to protect data.
• Setting up automated processes for data replication to ensure business continuity, while minimizing costs.

 
Ensure System Scalability

• Ensuring the system’s capability to handle diverse data sources and formats.
• Implementing scaling strategies to accommodate varying data volumes.

 
Collaborate with Data Engineers

• Working with data engineers and other team members to implement the architecture effectively.
• Providing technical guidance and assistance in troubleshooting issues.

 
Document Architecture, Practices, and Procedures

• Documenting architectural decisions, best practices, and operational procedures in detail using Azure DevOps Wiki pages to ensure project sustainability.

 
Design and Implement Secure APIs

• Gathering requirements for APIs to expose data effectively for analytics and development uses.
• Implementing secure APIs using AWS API Gateway and Lambda functions.
