EL1 Cyber Security Specialist / Team Lead 

Location: Canberra, ACT
Contract: Non-ongoing, 12 months with extension option + ongoing potential
Pay: EL1 - $137,301 to $157,498 + 15.4% super + all leave entitlements!
Work type: Full-time
Work arrangement: Onsite mostly with specific arrangements agreed with your supervisor on a case-by-case basis
Clearance: Must hold a current NV2 clearance or above

About the Role
This is a senior EL1 cyber operations role with our Federal Government client. You will lead capability across monitoring, detection and response for complex cyber security events.

You will stay close to the tools while guiding skilled analysts. The role suits someone who can lead incident response, build detection capability, support threat hunting and bring calm judgement to priority work.

You will work across cyber security teams to strengthen whole-of-agency cyber capability.

What You'll Be Doing

• Monitor and respond to cyber security alerts
• Develop detection cases for complex threat actor activity
• Lead and support incident response and remediation
• Guide cyber security analysts and coordinate team resources
• Lead threat hunting activities
• Work with other cyber teams to improve whole-of-agency capability
• Use cyber operations tools such as Splunk, Defender and Nuix
• Analyse cyber security trends, vulnerabilities and threats

What You Bring (Essential Criteria)

• You've worked in cyber security environments, especially SOCs
• You've led or supported cyber security incident response
• You can build useful detection cases and improve monitoring capability
• You've used tools such as Splunk, Defender, Nuix or similar
• You can research and analyse current threats, vulnerabilities and trends
• You communicate clearly with technical teams and senior stakeholders
• You're an Australian citizen
• You must hold a current NV2 clearance or above

Nice to Have (Desirable Criteria)

• Experience with SIEM technologies
• Threat hunting experience in a complex environment
• Knowledge of cyber security principles and threat actors
• Experience in a sensitive Commonwealth, Defence or national security environment
