Project Manager – Security Infrastructure Projects

Location: Canberra, ACT (on-site)
Contract length: Initial 12 months with possible extension
Clearance: Australian Government NV1 required 
Citizenship: Australian citizen only
Payrate: $140 - $150 p/h (negotiable)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead complex security and technology infrastructure projects across multiple locations, including domestic and international environments. This role involves managing projects end-to-end, ensuring delivery on time and within budget, while meeting strict security, compliance, and regulatory requirements.

You will work across the full project lifecycle, providing expert advice, strong governance, and hands-on delivery support for high-risk, high-value initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

• Manage projects from initiation through to close-out, including transition to business-as-usual operations.
• Deliver security and infrastructure projects in line with protective security frameworks and technical standards.
• Lead project planning, scheduling, risk and issue management, and change control.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary teams in a matrix environment, both locally and remotely.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
• Oversee procurement activities, contract administration, and vendor performance.
• Prepare and maintain high-quality project artefacts, including project plans, schedules, risk registers, and status reports.
• Engage and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders and delivery partners.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, building standards, and workplace health and safety obligations.
• Coordinate handover activities and capture lessons learned.

• Development of operating models and cost frameworks to support ongoing delivery

Skills and Experience

• Proven experience delivering complex projects from inception to closure.
• Strong understanding of security-driven project environments and compliance obligations.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in fast-paced settings.
• Experience managing project finances, governance, and risk.
• Confidence working with technical specialists, vendors, and senior stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Practical experience with recognised project management methodologies.

Desirable

• Experience delivering infrastructure or technology projects in regulated environments.
• Exposure to international or remote project delivery.
• Experience supporting organisational change and communications activities.

Additional Information

• On-site work is required due to the nature of the role.
• Domestic and international travel may be required.
• Candidates must hold a current NV1 clearance or be eligible to obtain one, with the ability to progress to NV2 if required.
