Rate: $50.00 - $70.00 p/h + super

Join a national initiative that shapes Australia’s public health response to communicable diseases. We’re seeking a skilled Public Health Officer (APS5/6 equivalent) to support the development and update of national public health guidance materials used across jurisdictions.

You’ll work alongside subject matter experts, clinicians, and policy professionals to ensure guidance materials are accurate, evidence-based, and easy to use. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong writing skills with an eye for structure, detail, and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide writing and editorial support for the development of national public health guidelines.
• Conduct literature reviews and synthesise information from expert groups and stakeholders.
• Coordinate expert working group meetings — scheduling, agendas, minutes, and action tracking.
• Collate stakeholder feedback and ensure document version control and quality assurance.
• Support the preparation and presentation of draft materials for review and endorsement.

About You

• Proven technical or policy writing experience, ideally in a health, science, or policy context.
• Excellent written communication and attention to clarity, tone, and plain English.
• Highly organised with experience managing multiple documents and deadlines.
• Strong coordination and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and Teams.
• Background or interest in public health, clinical guidelines, or health policy (desirable).
