We are working with an established and design-led architecture and interiors studio seeking an experienced Technical Project Architect to join its London team.
This is a technically focused role working across commercial refurbishment, retrofit and workplace projects. You will take responsibility for the technical development and delivery of projects, working closely with internal design teams, clients, consultants and contractors to ensure design intent is translated into coordinated, buildable solutions.
The position would suit an architect with strong construction knowledge who enjoys being involved in the detailed delivery of projects and is confident taking ownership of complex technical packages.
Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical delivery of commercial refurbishment, retrofit and workplace projects.
• Develop and coordinate project information across RIBA Stages 3-6.
• Take ownership of Stage 4 technical design packages, ensuring information is fully coordinated, accurate and buildable.
• Produce and oversee detailed construction drawings, technical packages and project documentation.
• Coordinate information across multidisciplinary consultant teams, including structural, MEP, fire and specialist disciplines.
• Manage and incorporate consultant information within Revit models.
• Ensure projects comply with UK Building Regulations, planning requirements and relevant statutory standards.
• Lead technical coordination meetings and design reviews.
• Work closely with contractors during the construction phase, responding to RFIs and reviewing specialist and subcontractor information.
• Attend site meetings and inspections where required.
• Monitor design quality and technical compliance throughout construction.
• Support the continued development of BIM and technical standards within the studio.

Skills & Knowledge
You will have:

• Strong Revit skills and experience working within collaborative BIM environments.
• Excellent technical and construction knowledge, particularly across existing buildings, refurbishment and retrofit projects.
• Experience working on Cat A and Cat B commercial interiors would be highly beneficial.
• Strong technical detailing skills and a thorough understanding of buildability and construction sequencing.
• Good knowledge of UK Building Regulations, construction legislation and the Building Safety Act.
• An understanding of Principal Designer responsibilities and information management requirements.
• The ability to lead technical project delivery and coordinate multiple consultants and disciplines.
• Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
• An understanding of sustainability, low-carbon retrofit and building performance would be advantageous.

Experience
The successful candidate is likely to have a minimum of 3-5 years' post-Part 3 experience within a UK architectural or design practice, with a strong track record in commercial refurbishment, retrofit or adaptive reuse projects.
You should be able to demonstrate:

• Experience leading and coordinating Stage 4 technical design packages.
• Strong construction and technical documentation experience.
• Experience supporting projects through the construction phase.
• Confidence responding to RFIs, reviewing contractor proposals and attending site inspections.
• Experience with NBS specification writing and information management processes.
• The ability to work collaboratively while taking ownership of technical delivery.
