We are working with an established and design-led architectural practice seeking a talented Residential Architect to join its London team.
This is a design-focused position working on high-quality, multi-unit residential developments. The successful candidate will be involved from early-stage feasibility and concept design through planning and developed design, working collaboratively with architects, consultants, clients and the wider project team.
The role would suit an architect with a strong design eye who understands the complexities of residential development and can translate client briefs, site constraints and commercial considerations into thoughtful and visually compelling architectural solutions.
Key Responsibilities

• Develop architectural concepts and design proposals for residential projects.
• Undertake feasibility studies and site appraisals.
• Develop projects from initial concept through planning and developed design.
• Prepare planning applications, design documentation and supporting information.
• Produce high-quality drawings, models, presentations and architectural visuals.
• Develop residential layouts, massing studies and spatial planning solutions.
• Coordinate architectural information with structural engineers, building services consultants and other specialists.
• Liaise with clients to understand project objectives, design requirements, budgets and commercial considerations.
• Attend client meetings, design workshops, site visits and project coordination meetings.
• Support and manage planning applications, including responding to feedback from planning authorities.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant UK planning requirements, Building Regulations and industry standards.
• Review technical and construction information where required.
• Assist with resolving design and coordination issues as projects progress.
• Contribute to maintaining high standards of design quality across the practice.

Skills & Knowledge
The successful candidate should have:

• Strong Revit skills.
• A good understanding of the RIBA Plan of Work, particularly Stages 1-3.
• Strong residential design experience, including concept development, spatial planning and developed design.
• A good understanding of multi-unit residential developments.
• The ability to interpret a project brief and develop practical, commercially considered and visually strong design solutions.
• Strong architectural design and presentation skills.
• Confidence communicating design ideas to clients, consultants and internal teams.
• A good understanding of UK planning requirements and residential design principles.
• The ability to produce high-quality architectural drawings, presentations and planning material.
• Strong attention to detail with a collaborative approach to project delivery.

Experience
Candidates should ideally have between 3-5 years' relevant professional experience, although those with a minimum of 1-2 years' strong and directly relevant experience may also be considered.
You should be able to demonstrate:

• Experience working on multi-unit residential developments.
• Involvement across RIBA Stages 1-3, including feasibility, concept design, planning and developed design.
• Experience producing residential layouts, massing studies and planning documentation.
• An understanding of site constraints, access, circulation, amenity and overall residential design quality.
• Experience coordinating architectural drawings and information with external consultants.
• The ability to work effectively alongside senior architects while taking ownership of your own areas of a project.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
