We are working with an established, design-led architecture and interiors studio seeking an experienced Associate Architect to join its senior leadership team in London.
This is a senior position combining architectural design, project leadership, team management and client development. The successful candidate will help lead the architecture team while working closely with the interiors division to deliver fully integrated projects.
The role has a particular emphasis on the front end of projects, including feasibility, concept development, massing, planning and design development across RIBA Stages 1-4, while maintaining involvement through the wider project lifecycle.
Projects will primarily span multi-unit residential / Build-to-Rent and commercial workplace, encompassing new-build, retrofit and refurbishment schemes.
Key Responsibilities

• Help lead and develop the architecture team, providing direction, mentoring and day-to-day support.
• Play an active role within the senior management team and contribute to the wider direction and growth of the studio.
• Work closely with interior design teams to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to project delivery.
• Lead and oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
• Take a particularly active role across RIBA Stages 1-4 while maintaining oversight through later project stages.
• Develop strong architectural concepts, design strategies and commercially viable solutions.
• Undertake and oversee feasibility studies, site appraisals, massing and early-stage design development.
• Maintain design integrity and quality throughout the project lifecycle.
• Build and manage strong relationships with clients, consultants, agents, contractors and other stakeholders.
• Present and pitch design ideas and proposals to clients and prospective clients.
• Contribute actively to business development and the development of new client relationships.
• Manage project programmes, resources and budgets.
• Review drawings, specifications and key project deliverables.
• Ensure projects meet relevant regulatory, technical and quality standards.
• Attend site visits and project meetings as required.
• Promote high standards of design, sustainability and technical excellence across the studio.

Leadership & Client Development
This is not purely a project delivery position. The successful candidate will be expected to take an active role in developing both the team and the wider business.
You should be comfortable:

• Leading, mentoring and motivating architects and architectural assistants.
• Providing creative and technical direction across multiple projects.
• Building trusted relationships with existing clients.
• Identifying and developing new business opportunities.
• Pitching and presenting to clients, agents and other industry contacts.
• Representing the studio confidently at a senior level.
• Working collaboratively with other design disciplines and senior leadership.
• Helping establish and maintain high standards across the architecture function.

Skills & Experience
The successful candidate is likely to have 8+ years' architectural experience, including meaningful experience in a leadership or senior project role.
You should be able to demonstrate:

• A professional qualification in Architecture, ideally to Master's level.
• Strong experience across RIBA Stages 1-4 and a good understanding of the complete project lifecycle.
• Experience delivering high-quality architectural projects across new-build, retrofit and refurbishment.
• Relevant experience within multi-unit residential / Build-to-Rent and/or commercial workplace projects.
• Strong concept design, feasibility and massing experience.
• The ability to balance strong architectural design with commercial and technical considerations.
• Experience managing and developing architectural teams.
• Strong client-facing and presentation skills.
• A track record of building client relationships and contributing to business development.
• The ability to manage multiple projects, teams and priorities simultaneously.
• Strong technical knowledge and attention to detail.
• Experience coordinating with consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders.
• Proficiency in relevant architectural and presentation software, ideally including Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp and Adobe Creative Suite.

The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an established Senior Architect or Associate looking to take on a broader leadership position within a progressive architecture and interiors studio.
The role offers significant influence over the architecture team, project design and client relationships, while providing the opportunity to contribute to the continued development and growth of the wider business.
The position is London-based and five days a week in the studio, so candidates will need to be able to commute into Central London and have the right to work in the UK.
