Working Pattern: 5 days per week in the studio

The Opportunity
We are working with a highly creative London-based architecture and interior design studio seeking an experienced Senior Interior Designer to join its growing team.
This is a hands-on senior design position for someone who combines strong creative and conceptual ability with the experience to take projects from initial ideas through design development and delivery.
Working alongside architects and interior designers, you will play a key role in developing high-quality, buildable design solutions across commercial workplace and Build to Rent projects.
Reporting to the Head of Design, you will take ownership of projects, work directly with clients and help mentor and develop more junior members of the team.
Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership

• Lead the development of creative concepts through to detailed design.
• Develop strong design narratives and translate these into practical, buildable solutions.
• Maintain design quality and integrity throughout each stage of a project.
• Create compelling pitch and presentation material.
• Confidently present and pitch design concepts to clients.
• Keep informed of new materials, products, suppliers and wider industry trends.

Client Engagement

• Work directly with clients to understand their brief, objectives and aspirations.
• Present concepts, layouts and design proposals clearly and confidently.
• Respond to client feedback and develop designs accordingly.
• Build strong, trusted relationships throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Delivery

• Manage multiple projects from concept through to completion.
• Coordinate design programmes, resources and key deliverables.
• Work closely with architects, consultants, contractors and other project stakeholders.
• Ensure design solutions remain achievable within project budgets and programmes.
• Attend site and resolve design issues during construction and installation.

Team Leadership

• Mentor and support junior and midweight designers.
• Help manage workloads and delegate design responsibilities.
• Review work and provide constructive creative and technical feedback.
• Contribute to a collaborative and ambitious studio culture.

Technical & FF&E

• Produce and oversee detailed drawings, plans and specifications.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant building regulations and technical requirements.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of materials, finishes, furniture and FF&E.
• Select appropriate products, materials and suppliers for individual projects.
• Ensure final design and project deliverables meet a consistently high standard.

Experience & Qualifications

• Degree in Interior Design, Architecture or a related discipline.
• Approximately 5-7+ years of professional interior design experience.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating high-quality commercial interiors and/or Build to Rent projects.
• Experience leading projects and taking ownership of the design process.
• Previous experience mentoring or managing junior designers.
• Strong client-facing and presentation experience.
• Experience producing pitch documentation and presenting design concepts.

Skills

• Strong conceptual and creative design ability.
• Excellent eye for detail, materials and finishes.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit and Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable design software.
• Strong knowledge of FF&E, suppliers, finishes and materials.
• Good understanding of building regulations and sustainability considerations.
• Ability to manage several projects and priorities simultaneously.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Commercial awareness and an understanding of how to create ambitious but deliverable designs.
• Confident, adaptable and comfortable working within a fast-paced studio environment.
• A creative thinker who is prepared to challenge conventional approaches to design.

Additional Information
This is a full-time, studio-based position working five days per week in Central London, so candidates must be comfortable with an office-based working environment.
