The Opportunity
We are working with an established and growing workplace design and build business that is looking to appoint a Senior Designer to join its specialist technology division.
This is a technically focused design role responsible for the design and documentation of integrated technology solutions across commercial workplace projects.
Working closely with the technical sales, project management, fit-out and delivery teams, you will take projects from post-sale design development through to detailed construction information and site delivery. The role will suit someone with a strong background in AV, IT or smart technology design, ideally gained within commercial interiors, workplace or fit-out.
You will play a key role in ensuring technology solutions are technically viable, fully coordinated with the wider architectural and M&E design, and accurately documented for installation.
Key Responsibilities

• Support the technical sales team in validating design feasibility and ensuring proposed solutions are technically deliverable.
• Develop a clear understanding of client requirements and translate these into detailed, buildable technical design information.
• Produce accurate construction and M&E drawings, system schematics and detailed equipment rack layouts.
• Develop comprehensive network schedules and coordinate Network and IT requirements with internal and external teams.
• Carry out acoustic analysis using speaker heat-mapping software to ensure appropriate audio coverage and performance.
• Liaise with suppliers and the wider supply chain to coordinate technical requirements for procurement and project delivery.
• Collaborate closely with interior and technical design teams to ensure joinery and associated elements are correctly detailed.
• Produce and coordinate reflected ceiling plans, ensuring integration between M&E, AV, IT and architectural requirements.
• Work alongside Technical Services Managers to ensure cabling, containment, power, data and other technical requirements are fully captured.
• Work closely with Project Managers to identify and resolve structural, M&E or site coordination issues before installation.
• Manage technical design changes and variations throughout the project lifecycle, maintaining clear and accurate documentation.
• Maintain consistent design standards across all project information and ensure alignment with wider architectural and construction documentation.

Skills & Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Proven experience as a Designer within the AV, IT, smart technology or integrated technology sector.
• Experience working on commercial workplace, interiors or fit-out projects would be highly advantageous.
• Strong AutoCAD skills, particularly for technical drawings, schematics and coordinated construction information.
• Experience using speaker heat-mapping or acoustic modelling software such as EASE, Soundvision or similar.
• A strong understanding of M&E dependencies associated with technology installations, including power, data, cooling and containment.
• Experience coordinating technology designs with architectural, interior and M&E packages.
• Strong technical problem-solving skills with the ability to identify potential site and integration issues before installation.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical requirements clearly to clients, consultants, project teams and installation teams.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple technical workstreams across fast-paced projects.

This role would suit a technically strong designer who enjoys working at the intersection of technology, workplace design and construction.
You will need to be comfortable taking ownership of technical design information, coordinating with multiple disciplines and ensuring that the original design intent can be successfully translated into a fully integrated, buildable solution.
