We are working with an established, design-led workplace design and build business looking to appoint a Junior Technical Designer / Interior Architect to join its growing design team.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious junior designer with strong Revit skills who wants to develop their technical knowledge and gain experience delivering commercial workplace projects from design development through to construction.
Working alongside experienced designers, project managers and pre-construction teams, you will help translate creative concepts into coordinated, accurate and buildable technical packages.
The role would particularly suit someone from an interior architecture or technically focused interior design background who wants to develop their career within the fast-paced workplace design and build sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development of workplace projects from concept and design development through to technical delivery.
- Produce accurate technical drawings and construction information using Revit.
- Develop and maintain coordinated Revit models throughout the project lifecycle.
- Translate design concepts into detailed, practical and buildable solutions.
- Produce plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules and drawing packages.
- Assist with site surveys and the production of accurate existing and proposed drawings.
- Work closely with senior designers to ensure the original design intent is maintained throughout technical development.
- Coordinate information with project managers, pre-construction teams, consultants, subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assist with finishes schedules, specifications, as-built information and O&M documentation.
- Support the coordination of architectural, MEP and specialist subcontractor information.
- Attend project and design meetings where required.
- Assist with resolving technical and design issues throughout the project.
- Research materials, finishes, products and technical solutions.
- Ensure drawings and project information are produced accurately and to agreed deadlines.
Skills & Experience
- Previous professional experience within interior design, interior architecture or architectural design.
- Strong Revit skills are essential.
- A good understanding of technical drawing and detailing.
- Experience producing drawing packages within Revit.
- An understanding of how interior design concepts are developed into buildable technical solutions.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite would be beneficial.
- Experience within commercial workplace, office fit-out or design & build would be advantageous, but is not essential.
- Good understanding of materials, finishes and construction methods.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to manage priorities and work to deadlines.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Comfortable working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary project team.
- Keen to learn and develop technically.
The Person
We are looking for someone who is technically minded, enthusiastic and keen to build their career within workplace design.
You may currently be working as a Junior Technical Designer, Junior Interior Designer, Interior Architect or Architectural Assistant and be looking for a role where you can gain greater exposure to live projects and technical delivery.
You don't need to know everything from day one, but you
must be confident using Revit and have a genuine interest in understanding how interiors are detailed, coordinated and ultimately built.
