Job Title: BIM Architect
Sector: Luxury hospitality, bespoke residential, and retail fit-outs.
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Location: Barcelona
Salary: €45,000 - €65,000 p.a.
 
We are seeking a highly specialized and adaptable BIM Architect for our client's Barcelona studio, focusing on high-profile international projects. This role demands strong technical execution, BIM coordination expertise, and a passion for automation and digital construction workflows.
 
Role Overview

• Experience: 5-8 years total experience, including at least 2-3 years on international AEC projects.
• Focus: BIM modeling, coordination, automation, and supporting AI-enhanced design processes.
• Ideal Candidate: COAC-registered professional passionate about digital construction and interoperability, with clear growth potential into BIM leadership.

 
Key Responsibilities
 
BIM Model Development & Management:

• Build and maintain accurate, LOD 200-350 BIM models in Revit for architecture, structure, and MEP coordination.
• Perform clash detection and resolution using Navisworks and BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud.
• Ensure model compliance with ISO 19650, EN BIM standards, and project-specific BEP (BIM Execution Plan).

 
Automation & AI Integration:

• Develop Dynamo scripts and basic Python automation to streamline repetitive tasks (e.g., scheduling, tagging, data export).
• Use AI tools (TestFit, Spacemaker, Veras, Arkdesign) for generative massing, space planning, and sustainability analysis.
• Support digital twin setup with IoT-ready data structures for post-occupancy monitoring.

 
Collaboration & Project Support:

• Coordinate with international project teams (architects, engineers, contractors) via cloud CDEs (BIM 360, ACC).
• Generate coordinated drawings, schedules, and 4D/5D extracts for tenders and construction.
• Assist in client presentations using VR walkthroughs and data dashboards (Power BI, Speckle).

 
Standards, Documentation & Training:

• Maintain project BIM libraries, templates, and family standards.
• Document workflows and create quick-guide training materials for junior staff.
• Support BIM audits and ensure data integrity for handover (COBie, IFC).

 
Required Skills and Qualifications
 
Education & Registration:

• Bachelor's/Master's in Architecture, Engineering, or BIM/Digital Construction.
• COAC registration or EU equivalent required; BIM certification (Autodesk, buildingSMART) preferred.

 
Experience:

• 5-8 years in BIM modeling/coordination, with minimum 2-3 years on international luxury projects.
• Full involvement in at least 3 complete BIM-enabled project cycles (design to IFC).

 
Technical Proficiency:

• Advanced: Revit (Architecture/MEP), Navisworks, BIM 360/ACC.
• Proficient: Dynamo (visual scripting), Python (basics), Solibri.
• Familiar: AI tools (TestFit, Spacemaker), Speckle, Power BI, IFC workflows.

 
Domain Knowledge

• Strong grasp of AEC digital workflows, interoperability, and cloud collaboration.
• Understanding of digital twins, IoT data structures, and sustainability metrics in BIM.

 
Languages (Mandatory)

• English: C1 Level (essential for international coordination).
• Spanish/Catalan: B2+ Level (required for studio integration).

• AI-optimized, clash-free BIM models ready for multidisciplinary use.
• Automated scripts reducing manual effort by 20-30%.
• Coordinated IFC exports and COBie datasets for handover.
• Training guides and workflow documentation for team adoption.
