Senior Power Systems Engineer | Sydney (Hybrid)
 
The Role
We are currently working with a highly regarded Australian power systems advisory firm looking to add a Senior Power Systems Engineer to their Sydney team.
 
This isn't a "heads-down" modelling shop. This consultancy sits right at the center of the energy transition, advising everyone from renewable developers and investors to NSPs and government bodies. You'll be solving complex technical hurdles while providing the strategic insight that actually gets projects off the ground.
 
What You'll Be Doing
You'll lead a variety of technical and advisory work, focusing on:

• System Studies: Load flow, dynamic stability, and fault level analysis.
• Grid Connections: Navigating the end-to-peer process (GPS, R1/R2, and commissioning).
• Advisory: Translating complex technical outcomes into clear advice for regulators and clients.
• Mentorship: Guiding junior engineers and helping shape the team's technical direction.

What We're Looking For
We need someone who knows the Australian grid inside out. Ideally, you'll have:

• Experience: 5+ years in power systems, specifically within the Australian regulatory landscape.
• Software Skills: Proficiency in PSS/E, PSCAD, or PowerFactory.
• Communication: The ability to explain why a technical result matters to a non-technical stakeholder.
• Background: Experience with AEMO, NSPs, or a similar consultancy environment is key.
• Qualifications: Electrical Engineering degree; CPEng/RPEQ is a definite plus.
