English Language Partners is a not-for-profit, education provider with NZQA category 1 status, that has been providing English language programmes and settlement support to adult migrants and people from refugee and asylum backgrounds throughout New Zealand for over 40 years.
With 21 centres spanning from Whangārei to Invercargill, our dedicated team of 380 staff and 850 volunteers annually support over 8,000 learners. We are passionate about supporting former refugees and migrants participate successfully in all aspects of life in Aotearoa New Zealand and we are looking for your help to achieve this.

What you’ll be doing
- Managing the day-to- day operations of a large English language centre covering the central Wellington.
- This involves overseeing the delivery of a variety of group English language programmes, including all the operational aspects involved in running a business such as planning, reporting, marketing, finance, fundraising and business development.
- Stakeholder and community liaison is another key part of the role, you’ll be connecting with local businesses, educators, ethnic communities and other community groups to ensure your centre is attracting and meeting the needs of learners in the area.
- Inspiring and leading a team of 19, comprised of 3 Coordinators/Operations staff, 12 part-time teaching staff and 4 relief teachers, circa 80 volunteers, to service around 400 learners each year.
Is this you? - Proven experience in organisation management/ general management (5+ years) preferably in the community/not-for-profit sector.
- Tertiary qualified in a relevant discipline such as management, not-for-profit management, business studies. A qualification in TESOL, adult education is highly desirable.
- Competent IT user with strong project management, financial management and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of/experience working in ESOL, Education and/or working with former refugees and migrants.
- Strong people management and relationship building skills.
