English Language Partners New Zealand (ELPNZ) is an award-winning education provider with NZQA Category 1 endorsement. As the largest national not-for-profit provider of English language education and support to former refugees and migrants, we have been making a positive impact for over 40 years.
With 21 centres spanning from Whangārei to Invercargill, our dedicated team of 350 staff and 800 volunteers annually support over 8,000 learners. Our National Office, located in a great office space on The Terrace in Wellington, serves as the hub of operations.
About the role
This is a hands-on administration role supporting a payroll project focused on reviewing and correcting historical payroll and leave information. Working closely with payroll specialists, you’ll help prepare, clean, validate, and organise payroll data so calculations can be completed accurately, efficiently, and with a clear audit trail. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, spreadsheets, and structured processes.
The role is starting immediately, for an initial three-month fixed term.
- Hours: Usually around 20 hours per week, but may vary depending on project needs
- Flexibility: Some flexibility is required around hours and workload
- Pay rate: $30–$33 per hour, depending on experience
- Location: National Office, Wellington but potential to work semi- remotely after training period.
Who you are
This role is particularly well suited to a postgraduate student (Master's level or similar) or an early career administrator who enjoys detailed, data driven work and is looking to apply their analytical skills in a real-world setting.
You’ll bring:
- Strong attention to detail and a genuine interest in working with complex data
- Confidence using Excel and spreadsheets (including formulas, lookups, and crosschecking data)
- A methodical, organised approach to work
- The ability to manage multiple tasks and follow structured processes
- Clear written communication skills
- The ability to work independently while collaborating with a small project team
Study or experience in areas such as accounting, finance, economics, statistics, data science, HR, or payroll will be well regarded. An interest in payroll, compliance, or employment data is a strong advantage.
